Speaker 1:

Hello and welcome to the Unraid May Digest of 2024. I'm your host, stefano Partita, and we're gonna just jump straight into this video and talk about all things Unraid. I believe everyone's excited for the release of Unraid 7, and more so the Unraid team themselves, as they're bringing us lots of new features that everyone has been begging for for quite some time Now. We're going to talk about all of those features because we've talked about it extensively in the past when we talked about Unraid 6.13, beta 1 and the beta 2 releases. You've seen in the newsletters and you've seen it on the forums. Now if, for whatever reason, you've been living under a rock and not seeing any of that, some of the features not all of them that you can be excited for are Intel ArcGPU support, there's a new proxy manager, new dashboard, vm snapshots, as well as hybrid ZFS pools, and that's just to name literally a few, and we're not going to get into any more than that. Are you the type of person that talks about Unraid to pretty much everybody, and their mother and even strangers in the urinal? Well then, you might be interested in the Unraid Ambassadors program, where you can earn a 10% commission for every license you sell, and you don't need to be a content creator to sign up for this program. You can literally just be an average Joe or a person who's enthusiastic about Unraid and just want to help spread the features that Unraid has to offer to everyone or get other people started with their own NAS at home. So maybe you're a freelancer and you're setting people up with Unraid, but now you should get a commission for each of those sales. I think that's a pretty fair program. Now all you have to do is go to winescom and create your account and then you'll get an affiliate link that you can literally hand out to anyone to help earn yourself that 10% commission Pretty simple. Perhaps the only downside to the Unraid Ambassador Program is that you do have to earn $250 of commissions first before you can get your payout. Now this is pretty common for affiliate programs and ambassador programs. There is always some minimum threshold that must be met, typically between $100 to $300. So while this may seem daunting to the average Joe, for content creators or freelancers, it is definitely something that is achievable with some effort At least. It's cool to see that it's available to everyone who may just be very enthusiastic about Unraid, and I think it's realistically possible for everyone to achieve that. If you are at all interested about joining the Unraid Ambassadors program and want more information, there'll be a link in the video description below for you to find all of those finer details.

The Unraid team will be headed to the Southeast Linux Fest hosted in Charlotte, north Carolina, between June 7th and the 9th. So if you're in that area at all, you should definitely consider heading over there and meeting some of the team that will be present, and the Southeast Linux Fest is known to host talks or discussions about the Linux operating system, as well as open source projects and even hardware from companies that contribute to Linux. Overall, you can expect to see System76, almalinux and Rocky Linux organizations there, as well as Unraid themselves and a whole slew of other organizations and people as well, and it's not only a company organization hosted event. There will be other speakers there and you can expect topics along the lines of how to homelab without burnout or other homelab related topics, which is really cool to see, and there's going to be OpenShift talk, vpn talk. I mean just a whole slew of topics of discussion.

Speaker 1:

For anyone that didn't already know this, you can actually hire an expert to help you with any issues you may be experiencing with the Unraid operating system containers, VMs, vpns, whatever it may be. This is a really good option for anyone that just needs a little bit of extra support that they're not finding from the Unraid forums or on places like Reddit. Be sure to head over to the Unraid website to check that out, if you are at all interested. Also, be sure to check out some of the community content involving the LinkStation N1, technotim trying out Unraid for the first time, steakpeaks into things about Unraid 7, and even building an Unraid NAS with a Mac Pro. On North Third Media's YouTube channel, be sure to get subscribed to the Uncast show so you don't miss out on any of the upcoming videos about Unraid 7 in the future, and also be sure to drop this video a like, just so we all know that you enjoy content like this. With all that being said, we will be sure to see you on the next month's digest show.
