Speaker 1:

Welcome back to the Unraid Digest. My name is Stefano and we've only been gone for about a month, but a lot has been going on in the background with Unraid and the development team. But we'll get into some of those finer details here in a little bit. The first thing I want to discuss with you guys is that there is an Unraid sale going on right now where you can save up to 50% on an Unleashed license, and the sale is expected to last all the way through August, so you have plenty of time to take advantage of those discounts while you can. Right now, you can pick up an Unleashed license for $89, saving yourself $20 on the $109 price tag. This is a perpetual license giving you access to all of the Unraid features for life. You'll also get one free year of operating system updates and, of course, the main advantage of the Unleashed license is that you can attach unlimited number of storage devices. I think we can all agree that's a pretty good deal for the Unleashed license if you don't own a license already. But what about everyone out there with a starter, basic or plus license? All right, so I had a conversation with Tom and Tiffany, right the the CEOs of Limetech. For those of you that don't know, this is a totally real conversation. I didn't make this up for this video, okay? So I called them and I said, hey, we got to do something for the people out there that have these licenses. What can we do? So they're like you know what? We have a great idea. We're going to do a discounted upgrade for them as well. So if you're on the starter plan, you can upgrade your license to Unleashed for $48. That's a pretty decent deal. If you're on the basics plan, you can upgrade your license to Unleashed for $29. And if you're on the plus plan, you can upgrade your license to Unleashed for only $9. There you go. I did all of that for you guys and, again, that conversation was 100% real and I didn't make it up for this little sketch. All right, so you're welcome.

Unraid 7 Beta 2 is now available, and in this release, you can expect to see a completely new, revamped dashboard with improved navigation, fully implemented ZFS pool support, major improvements to the VM manager, as well as a new ability where the array is no longer required, which is great to see. It's completely optional now and there are a host of fixes, as well as critical updates to some of the packages and so so much more that we actually can't get into all of it in this video. But speaking of new things, there's a new USB creation tool to install Unraid with, and it has a new UI design. But probably the best feature of it, in my opinion, is it now gives you the ability to install some of the beta public images that are available, instead of having to go out of your way through the forums to install some of the beta public images that are available, instead of having to go out of your way through the forums to find those public betas, and so that's a pretty cool feature and of course, it looks drastically different than the old design, which is always a welcome change to see.

Speaker 1:

You know, in these videos we always focus so heavily on Unraid 7 beta and all the features that are coming with Unraid 7 that we kind of, you know, forget about the current release and the updates coming to it, and so we're gonna stick with that trend by completely ignoring 6.12.11. That's totally available right now and has totally fixed open SSH vulnerability that was recently discovered last month, and there are also some kernel updates and some other things. You really don't need to be concerned about it. You can update if you want to. If you're sure, you can always check out the newsletter to see what new features and updates have been made available to you on 6.12.11.

Speaker 1:

Whatever, I don't care, you don't care. All we care about is Unraid 7, right, that's what we're here for is to hear about Unraid 7. Oh, unraid, how you've gone from just earning some extra beer money to now having one-on-one paid support and also having a ticketing system where now you yes, you could submit tickets for issues that you've experienced and track those all the way to the point that they're resolved and then have them in history. So if you encounter them again, you can already review the fixes that have occurred, which is great. So no more perusing through the forums post after post trying to find that one post of the resolution that fixed an issue that you experienced previously. Now it's all tracked in history and made much easier for you. So that's a great new feature that's been added. I think that we can all be thankful that there is now this maturity to Unraid as it continues to grow.

Speaker 1:

Lastly, don't forget to check out some of the Unraid community content in the links in the video description below, one of the more interesting topics from there is from Durandal, where they talk about how they use Unraid in a KUI environment. What the heck is a KUI environment? Well, it's an environment where they handle controlled, unclassified, and so you can read all about how Unraid fits into that network or environment and what exactly they're doing there. So be sure to drop a like if you enjoy content like this and get subscribed if you are not already. Thank you, guys all for watching and good night. It is actually nighttime for me, so that's why I say that.
