Welcome to the Unraid December Digest. I'm your host, Stefano Partita, and let's talk about all the things that went down in December. For anyone running Unraid 7.2, Unraid 7.2.3 has been released, and it is recommended that you do update to that version if you can, as it does fix some issues like resolving an issue with Samba and Time Machine, fixing an issue where pre-cleared disk signatures would not be detected after a reboot. There have also been a few fixes to the web UI, which improved the background gradient rendering, incorrect colors for notification text, and a fix for XSS exploit on SMT plugins and admin panels. A bug was fixed where DNS settings could be inadvertently overwritten by other devices, resolved an issue where the Docker template README would not load, and resolved missing no VNC files, which caused excess log warnings in syslog. 2025 was a huge year for the Unraid operating system with all the new features, enhancements, and improvements that have been made to the operating system itself, as well as the company, because there have been tons of new employees added. So that just begs the question well, what can we expect for the year of 2026? Well, I'm here to give you a small sample of what to expect. The first feature that will be coming will be internal boot support, which means you will no longer be restricted to USB booting, which is going to be great news for a lot of you who are wary of USB booting. We will also be getting support for multiple arrays, which will allow for more advanced and diverse use cases of the unrayed array capability. There will be more open source API improvements and more web UI improvements. We can also expect greater transparency into known issues, bugs, fixes, and the development progress with the public bug slash feature tracker. Those are just some of the things that you can expect to see in the year 2026. But if case you're wondering what features were added in 2025, here's a quick recap of some of those. The first of which is native ZFS support. Many additional capabilities were added for virtual machines like VM snapshots and cloning, the inclusion of the built-in file manager, and the integration of Tail Scale. Of course, there are a lot more details about each one of those in the recap, and also additional features that weren't mentioned in the recap. So if you feel like you are missing out and you want to know more, get subscribed to this channel so you don't miss out on any future announcements and or features that are being added to the Unraid operating system.
